Using image to hack your android phones

Your android phone can be hack by just looking an innocent looking photo.

Recently I got a e-mail notification saying that there is an on-going exploitation on newly found android bug. By just simply looking or downloading a photo that may look innocent our phone can be hack. This is crazy bug but this vulnerability is only present on Android 7.0 up to the very recent Android 9.0 versions.

According to the report, the attacker or hacker creates a malicious .png (Portable Network Graphics) photo that is injected a malicious code. When this image is open or viewed the malicious code executes with high privileges thus compromising your android based phones.

Google release a patch to this to fix this bug so if you can update your phones operating system then it is time you update this. Sadly some manufactures does not roll out or do not have the capability of sending updates to their users handset. Only well-known mobile brand/manufacturer are able to roll out updates. I hope you are using a latest version of Android OS after you read this article.

Dota 2 cannot add friend request; Limited account features

Dota 2 have a big community and with that this platform is also a target of abuse by some rogue  players or bad people. Steam detected players sending spam and phishing links to other player. To increase security or to protect na welfare of the players they implement a limited account features.

By default all newly created accounts or old account that did not made any purchase or top-up there steam wallet will have limited access.

To remove the limited access according to steam you need to top up atleast $5 dollars to your steam wallet which you can use to buy any game/items in steam store. Your account restrictions will be remove after top up allowing to access the many premium features.

This scheme helps preventing or minimize other bad players or schemers on deceiving players.
So to remove the limited account restriction you need to top-up. You can then avail the feature of adding friends to your list.

WinRAR critical bug being exploited in the wild

Do you love downloading subtitles (mostly compressed file WinRAR) then read this.

Are you using WinRAR in compressing or decompressing files? Is it updated or not? We all know that WinRAR is not a free software. It has expiration but even if your winrar is already expired you can still use it right? I have this one too.

I got received an email notice regarding a WinRAR bug. According to Check Point Cyber Security Team they found a critical bug that is being actively use or exploited rather in the wild. Hackers are exploiting this bug and researchers are not sure when this exploitation started.

According to them the bug reside on this dynamic link library (.dll) named UNACEV2.dll. Check you WinRAR version if this file exist. If it does, then you need to uninstall the WinRAR and after that download the latest version which does not exclude or not using the said DLL file.

Researchers found a "Absolute Path Traversal". They explain that the said bug allows the hacker to drop malicious script into windows startup that runs after reboot. This malicious file can be a backdoor or a script that allows the hacker to control your computer remotely.

One thing, all past or old version of WinRAR are affected by this bug. You need to download the latest version of WinRAR to protect yourself or your data.

Playing Dota 2 on Low Graphics Settings

Welcome back again. I play Dota 2 on a Low Graphics Settings and it's  super fine, it's awesomely okay. I don't really mine the texture of the characters and stuff; I just want to be able to play this action packed game like other gamers do even with my old model desktop.

Not everyone of us is rich being able to buy high specs desktop or high-end laptops. Lucky for us with regular gamers who only have a medium end specs desktop Dota 2 has been kind to us providing an option for us to play Dota 2 on a lower graphics settings.

My internet connection also is not fast enough. I only have 1Mbps connection speed. One thing I like with Dota 2 is that they have option for users with slow internet connection which helps a lot.

In terms of quality it is really best to play on a higher settings to feel the game deeply.
Is there a really big difference on animation/texture? Well, yeah. I'll show both images with lower settings and higher settings.

Can you spot the difference? If not, then you have problems in your eyes.
Playing in high graphic setting increases the intensity of the game while playing in low graphic settings feels boring but a real gamer can make exception.

One of other reason why I play in this mode is that I can tune or select low power management profile for my desktop saving or using less power thus saving a fraction of electricity. In windows we have this "Power Saver, Balance, High Performance" settings.

When your playing with high graphic setting then you need to select high performance in your power profile to maximize your desktop output.

I want to save electricity as much as possible and by playing on lower graphic setting I can select the "Power Saver" profile on windows power management. The downside of this is that I cannot use another CPU hungry app like Google Chrome or any Chromium base browser.

I don't have any trouble playing in lower setting mode so far and I will continue playing on this mode. Thats all, thank you for reading this uninteresting article. Happy gaming.

Mars: Dota 2 newest hero

Today I played and got a chance to see this new hero in action. I forgot to record the game sadly. I'm impressed with the special skills trapping the enemy preventing it from escaping which gave you a good length of time to disable or kill the enemy trapped inside.

Also the special skill of this called "Arena of Blood" is able to hold many enemy at once trapping them. It is a really good combo with Lich or any other Hero that have AoE skills.

If you play this hero you need to make sure to have a good dps (damage/second). I don't really like the first skill ("Spear of Mars")  it is not good when chasing enemy on open field.

This is not a good tank because of the third skill ("Bulwark") reducing enemy damage in front but no protection in the back. Rigwarl the Bristleback's third skill is much better than this.

This hero might have difficulty in hunting alone. Hunting goes well when partnerred with hero that have stun or slow.


Opinion:
To me, its real role to go in the front to control or break enemy formation allowing teammates to position and target enemy after breaking their positions. A good amount of HP and high defense must have to play this hero well.

Capturing Heroes of Newerth with Open Broadcaster Software (OBS)

This guide is a simple way to fix Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) from not detecting HON client on computers running Windows Operating System.
If you are playing Heroes of Newerth and want to record it then OBS is the right for you.

OBS is free to use and allows you to stream your game. This software is compatible on different games. Some streamer who plays Dota 2, Overwatch and many more uses this too.
OBS also runs on different platform from Windows, Mac to Linux.

If you are playing HoN and notice that OBS is not detecting your game. Then follow this simple tips.

• Run as administrator
• Some games are strict and does not allow 3rd party software to modify/read its content. So you need to run the OBS in administrative mode. This is simple, just right click the OBS and select "Run as Admin".
• Check HoN video settings.
• HoN has a exclusive mode option with maximize the use of the graphics card/mem. Make sure that the "exclusive mode" is uncheck to allow OBS reading info from the grachics card/mem. See screenshot below (Fig 1.1).

Dota 2 Updates too big.

I played Dota 2 for a while and this game never fail to amaze me regarding the filesize.

Every major update gives me a headache because it is too big. It is really frustrating especially gamers like me who have slow and unreliable internet connection.

I really hope developers find a way to minimize this huge updates sizes.

I played before League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth both with effects/animation that is almost they same yet they have small update sizes so even if my internet connection is not fast I still able to download this patches quickly.

Game pause on Dota 2 needs changes

Game pause on Dota 2 needs some changes. Like you I am also an avid gamer. I play a lot of games, mostly desktop games. I been playing Dota 2 for a while but before that I was also a player on Dota 1 or Dota rather. It was fun to play along with your buddies.

Dota 2 is an improve version of the Dota right? If so, then why developers did not update how the game pause works. This game feature needs some changes or updates.

This game pause feature must be updated and must have this following rules.

• Pausing the game require 2 yes (vote). To prevent accidental game pause, the game must ask for permission/vote to pause the game.
• Once a player hit/press "Game Pause", other players (enemy or team) cannot un-pause the game quickly. A countdown timer must show that prevents other players and even the one who pause the game to un-pause it until 40 seconds past. This will give the disconnected user enough seconds to reconnect minimizing gap on both levels and gold making the game fair.

I know that this "Game pause" is a privilege and not a right. But come on players, it won't hurt so much waiting for 30 seconds or 40 right. You were able to wait for your girls even they stayed too long in the dressing room right? Just saying.

Well, this could be a selfish request for me but other players loss interest in the game when they are not complete. Let's wait for a few seconds shall we?

I had this experience before when I was playing with my buddies on a computer shop (Cyber Shop), another player turn of my AVR (automatic voltage regulator) thus turning off my computer. I got angry because it took a while before the computer completely boot-up. My buddies pause the game so I can go back in the game without so much gaps (levels and gold) but this Game Pause feature is not helpful since the other team were able to resume the game and that is very frustrating.

Please share this blog to Dota 2 forums or to your buddies. I hope Dota 2 devs can read this article of mine. This might be a good feature.
